Privacy Policy
Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]
The short version
- Your household lives in your iCloud, not on our servers. We can't see it.
- We don't sell data, show ads or track you across apps and websites.
- Speech is turned into text on your device and isn't saved.
- Crash reports stay on your phone unless you choose to send one.
Who we are
Huddle is made by [COMPANY NAME] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Huddle app for iPhone and iPad and the website at huddleathome.com. Questions go to damienkdev@gmail.com.
Where your household data is stored
Everything you add to Huddle (events, chores, lists, projects, people, comments, budgets, expenses and receipt photos) is stored on your device and in Apple's iCloud using CloudKit, under your Apple Account. When you invite someone, iCloud shares that household with them. Apple's privacy policy covers how iCloud stores this data.
We don't operate servers that store your household data, and we can't read it. Budget and expense data is kept in a separate area that is shared only with the people you choose.
Permissions Huddle asks for
Huddle asks for each permission only when you first use the feature that needs it. You can turn any of them off in the Settings app.
- Calendars: to add your household's events to calendars Huddle creates and keep them up to date. Huddle doesn't change your other calendars.
- Contacts: to let you pick people for a list, such as holiday cards. Huddle copies only the people you choose.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to turn what you say into text. This happens on your device and the audio isn't saved.
- Camera and photos: to attach a photo, such as a receipt. The photo is saved with that item in iCloud.
- Notifications: for your daily summary and reminders. These are scheduled on your device.
- Face ID: to lock the app if you turn that on. Apple handles Face ID; we never see it.
Invite links
When you invite someone, Huddle makes a link on huddleathome.com. The link carries a one-time code, the iCloud share it opens, and the first name and household name shown in the preview. The code works once and expires after 7 days. Our website doesn't keep a record of who opens the link beyond standard hosting logs.
Crash reports
If Huddle crashes or freezes, Apple's MetricKit gives the app a technical report, which Huddle keeps on your device. It holds the app version, device model, and the names of the screens you were on, never the content you entered. A report leaves your device only if you share it yourself or turn on automatic sending in Settings, in which case it goes to us at huddleathome.com. You can delete reports at any time.
Purchases
Huddle Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we get confirmation that you subscribed, not your payment details.
Google Calendar (optional)
If you connect Google Calendar, Huddle signs in to Google on your device and reads and writes only the calendars you pick. The connection is stored on your device, and you can disconnect it in Settings or in your Google Account. Huddle's use of information from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent personal information, use advertising or analytics SDKs, build profiles of you, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Keeping or deleting your data
You control your data in Huddle. You can edit or delete anything, export a household from Settings, or leave a household. Deleting the app removes the copy on your device; data in iCloud can be removed from Settings in Huddle or from iCloud settings on your device. Because we don't hold your household data, we can't recover it for you.
Children
A household can include children's names and plans, added by their parent or guardian. Huddle isn't directed at children under 13 for their own use, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information. Most of this you can do in the app. For anything else, write to damienkdev@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app for important changes.
